The Hottest Day, The Hottest Couple
On the hottest day of the year, in the hottest place in the UK, Annah and Hugo got married. Which makes them... the hottest couple around. They chose Cambridge Cottage at Kew Gardens for an intimate day with 30 of their nearest and dearest. They were drawn as much to the gardens' living, growing landscape as to its beauty. Indeed both of them are genuinely nature-loving and that's why they picked this iconic venue. Annah is American, Hugo is French and grew up in Dubai so their guests came every corner of the world for one afternoon in London. How beautiful is that?
Newlyweds wandering in Kew Gardens
The ceremony was unfussy and genuinely moving. Afterwards, while their guests stayed back for refreshments and their own adventure in Kew Gardens, Annah and Hugo slipped away on their own for a quiet wander through the gardens. A chance for them to actually process what had just happened, away from every eye but mine. That stretch of the day, walking and being. buggies around by the wonderful staff, half-talking, half-lost in each other, that's where the best images tend to happen: no posing, just two people catching up with their own news. One stop was non-negotiable: the beehives. Hugo has a real fondness for bees and the hexagonal geometry against all that greenery made for some of the day's quietest, most striking frames. While listening to that soothing humming sound played in the structure, I asked them to close their eyes and just breath. So they can be present and really take in the moment. That's something I often do with my couples if time allows. A wedding day goes by so fast and I feel it's important for couples to be reminded to slow down and really connect with that immense joy and gratitude that's inside of them.
Onto the Party
From there, a traditional red bus hired for the occasion collected everyone for the ride to the Garden Shed in Wimbledon, where the party properly began as more guests joined for the evening. A Kew Gardens wedding suits couples who want scale and beauty without spectacle. Couples who want grand grounds but leave room for something that still feels like their own. Annah and Hugo's day proved exactly that: intimate, international and well... unforgettably hot.
