Many of my black brides said they were struggling to find Black-owned wedding suppliers for their wedding. Whether it was finding a caterer who would make their favourite african dish, a makeup artist who can work on their particular skin tone or maybe just wanting to support Black businesses, finding them was not an easy task.
When I asked one of my black brides why she wanted a black wedding photographer she replied ‘We were parting with a significant amount of money and it was important for us to keep it in the Black community. We wanted to honour our values of supporting Black businesses and empowering our community, so walking the talk, per say’ As a Black London wedding photographer, I am all for empowering Black-owned wedding suppliers and giving them more representation.
So I have compiled a list of Black-owned wedding suppliers who would suit a more modern and contemporary wedding.
