Many of my black brides said they were struggling to find Black-owned wedding suppliers for their wedding. Whether it was finding a caterer who would make their favourite african dish, a makeup artist who can work on their particular skin tone or maybe just wanting to support Black businesses, finding them was not an easy task.
When I asked one of my black brides why she wanted a black wedding photographer she replied ‘We were parting with a significant amount of money and it was important for us to keep it in the Black community. We wanted to honour our values of supporting Black businesses and empowering our community, so walking the talk, per say’ As a Black London wedding photographer, I am all for empowering Black-owned wedding suppliers and giving them more representation.
So I have compiled a list of Black-owned wedding suppliers who would suit a more modern and contemporary wedding.
Black-owned wedding suppliers: Bridal wear
Felisiti will design you anything from a classy dreamy wedding dress to an androgynous bridal suit. Her work screams exquisite elegance
Kate Edmonson Bridal Couture
If you like puffy sleeves, big bows or anything very fashionable, have a browse at Kate’s stylish designs
Rita describes her work as ‘light, fluid and contemporary’. Her dresses are more traditional but the floaty textiles she uses give them that little bit of quirk that makes her bridal dresses really stand out. Great fit for the black bride who wants an arty side to her outfit.
Black-owned wedding suppliers: Men’s Suits
Charlie grew up in a fashion family and studied art. Having your wedding suit impeccably designed by him and his team, you’ll be assured to be provided with an incredibly stylish outfit that is exactly you.
Ozwald is one of the best British designers. His suits are rich in texture, colour and patterns and incredibly elegant. They are original, simple and of the highest quality. A Boateng suit will fit you to perfection and will be an extension of yourself.
Sammy designs beautiful men’s suits and accessories.
Black-owned wedding suppliers: Hair and Makeup
Charlotte is an award winning hairdresser specialising in natural afro hair. She is a specialist in maintaining all textures of afro hair and will do wonders for ladies who want to keep their hair ‘au naturel’
Elena is a really cool chick who’s worked with magazines such as Vogue and Vanity fair and many celebrities. You’re sure to be looking like a superstar on your wedding day!
Bev of Makeupology

Raffinée by Lola Beauty
Whether you want a natural makeup or a glamorous one, Lola is great at finding the perfect look for you. She is calm, fun and relaxed which is very helpful in that time leading up to the wedding ceremony!
Lesley says: really lucked out finding Lola who did both, and was so happy with how it turned out. She matched my vision perfectly. I don’t normally wear a lot of make up and my biggest fear was not looking or feeling like myself on the day, but that didn’t happen at all, it was perfect.
