BARBICAN COUPLE SESSION

A Multicultural Couple Session at the Barbican Estate, London

Chloé and Matthieu’s story begins in London

Chloé and Matthieu are the kind of couple whose love story could fill a novel. She is a French bride with African roots. He’s Belgian, with an effortless charm and a love of travel. They met while studying law in London, and their shared journey has taken them across the world. But they chose to settle back where it all began: in the heart of London. Something I didn’t know when suggesting to capture them at the Barbican is that it’s where they both had their graduation celebration 7 years prior. So it felt a bit like a full circle moment!

As someone who comes from a mixed background myself, I always feel especially connected to people who carry pieces of different cultures within them. Photographing couples like Chloé and Matthieu isn’t just beautiful—it feels familiar and deeply meaningful.

The charm of the Barbican for a couple shoot

The Barbican is one of my favorite locations in London. Its bold, brutalist architecture, concrete walkways, and hidden gardens offer a very unique setting. Perfect for a Barbican wedding or a romantic couple session.

On the day of our shoot, the sky was grey and moody, and a drizzle hung in the air. But instead of letting the weather put a damper on things, Chloé and Matthieu embraced it. We even joked about how romantic umbrellas can be, especially when you’re in love.

A connection that goes beyond the camera

From the moment we met, conversation flowed so naturally. We connected over our shared experiences of being French expats in London. We also bonded over music, food, and our mutual appreciation for multiculturalism.

There was so much laughter. So many little shared looks. These aren’t just clients—they feel like friends. And that’s what makes all the difference on a wedding day. When I know a couple well, I don’t just capture photos. I capture real moments, real emotion.

Looking ahead: their multicultural wedding celebration

Chloé and Matthieu’s upcoming wedding at Château Gassies is going to be extraordinary! Imagine: French elegance, Belgian warmth, and the soulful sounds of an African Kora player. It’s a true celebration of where they come from and who they are becoming together.

As a photographer who loves documenting multicultural weddings, I honestly can’t wait. This fusion of traditions, styles, and energies is exactly why I do what I do.

Come Rain or Shine, Love Always Shows

Even with grey skies, Chloé and Matthieu’s connection lit up the day. That’s the kind of love I adore photographing. Effortless, joyful, and deeply rooted.

If you’re planning a Barbican wedding or a London multicultural wedding, I’d love to hear from you. I’m always drawn to couples who bring the world into their story—and share it so beautifully.
