Ria & Gary are a lovely down to earth young couple. They were looking for a modern fuss-free photographer for their intimate wedding in the Marylebone Old Town Hall and I am glad they found me! Even though I have shot there numerous times, I’m always in awe of this fascinating building.
I first met with Ria on one of these cold but sunny autumn morning at the swanky Sea Containers hotel. Its modern architecture is a beautiful backdrop for photos (I went to their bar a couple of days later and they do some delicious cocktails too!).
Ria’s room was overlooking the Thames and St Paul’s Cathedral! She was surrounded by her family and friends who where full of joy and excitement. Is there a better way to start the day?
After a few getting ready pictures and some in the stylish corridors, we took taxis to the Marylebone Old Town hall and were greeted by its friendly member of staff. Gary joined us shortly after and we were all lead to the Mayfair room which hosted their 27 guests perfectly.
Small weddings always feel very personal. Having only few people witnessing you and the love of your life tying the knot makes everyone feel extra special. The celebrant made this ceremony extra special when she gave the marriage certificate to Gary &… the best man!
After the ceremony, the three of us went for a little gander around the streets of the town hall for a photos and a little quiet moment for the couple to take in what has just happened, we took a taxi to The Gherkin. I was very excited to go up this iconic London building for a wedding and let me tell you, I wasn’t disappointed! What a view!
Ria’s indonesian aunties made a gorgeous wedding cover for the couple. They had to wrap up in it together to symbolize their union. Having the opportunity to photograph multicultural weddings makes me learn so much about wedding traditions in cultures, I love it!
